The scene opens with a close up of a massive television screen, basically the size of a movie theatre projector. On the screen, Anthony Royal’s brutal assault on Jay Swift from this past week’s Crash TV is playing. We see Royal plant Swift with a brutal Light’s Out, after which he and Silvio stand tall over the fallen Swift. Suddenly, laughter is heard in the background. The camera then swings around to reveal Anthony Royal, in a large leather chair. He has a big bucket of popcorn in his lap, which he chows down on while he enjoys the brutal assault. Another laugh escapes Royal’s lungs before the attack cuts out. He then tosses the bucket of popcorn aside and begins a mock clap as he starts speaking.
[red] Royal: Jay Swift, congratulations man. You almost did it. You came this close. [/red]
Royal holds up his fingers in the “this close” hand signal. It is unclear exactly what he is talking about at this point.
[red] Royal: You tried to cover your ass and get yourself an unfair advantage for our match when you assaulted me a few weeks back on Crash TV. You tried to break my spirit when you ruined my birthday bash. And last week, you simply tried to break me with your brutal and cowardly backstage ambush on me. [/red]
Royal smirks. Everyone knows the backstage assault never actually happened, but that won’t stop Royal from trying to convince people it did.
[red] Royal: You tried everything in your power to avoid having to face my wrath at Feel the Burn, but, look at me Swift. I’m still here. I’m still standing. I’m still coming for you to make your life a miserable mess at Feel the Burn and launch myself back to number one contender status. Because I am above all of your petty crap. I am above your little games and desperate ploys to get yourself the advantage in any way you can. I don’t need that Swift. I’m not here to play games, play politics, do favors for Maggia or sneak attack superior individuals. No, I’m here to win on my talent and my talent alone. And that is what I intend to do when we step into the ring at Feel the Burn. [/red]
An arrogant smirk sneaks across Royal’s face. His words are all lies, aside from the fact that he intends to win at Feel the Burn.
[red] Royal: Jay Swift, you tried to break me and eliminate me. But, just like you will do at Feel the Burn, you failed. [/red]
Another arrogant smirk hits Royal’s face.
[red] Royal: I understand why you’re mad though, Jay. I understand why you wanted to get your hands on me and hurt me. The obvious answer is, you simply wanted to send me into Feel the Burn as a wounded warrior, make me easy pickings, because of course, a victory of a man of my caliber would launch you right to the number one contender slot. But, that’s not the only reason, is it Jay? No, it’s a little more personal than that. You are angry with me because I exposed your dirty little secret. I exposed your disturbing relationship with Roberto Maggia. I showed the world the twisted, disgusting monster you really are. And Jay, if you don’t like being exposed, then you are really going to hate what I do to you at Feel the Burn. [/red]
Royal’s smile is now more disturbing as he continues his crusade to blemish the reputations of both Swift and Maggia with his blatant lies.
[red] Royal: You see, a month ago, after Kris Destiny and Roberto Maggia screwed me out of the World Championship, I said my new goal would be to destroy all of the heroes of the AWR. My first victim was Slick Doctor and, well, we haven’t seen him since, have we? You, Jay Swift, your a hero. Week after week, you go out there, and vanquish the evil of the AWR. And the people, they love you. They adore you. They want to be you. Every day, these miserable people drag themselves out of bed to drudge through another day of their pathetic lives. But then, they see Jay Swift, their hero, and it’s not so bad. Jay Swift, an unstoppable force. A man of the people. A great hero. But Jay, here’s the thing. All heroes eventually fall. [/red]
Royal now has a demented look in his eyes as he speaks.
[red] Royal: Hamlet was killed. Oedipus was reduced to gouging his own eyes out when he came to the horrifying realization that he had spent years sleeping with his own mother. And Jay, just so you and the lowest common denominator fans you placate to can understand, here are some less educated examples. Batman’s back was snapped by Bane. Spider-Man wasn’t able to catch Gwen Stacy when the Green Goblin threw her off of the George Washington Bridge. All of these heroes fell. All of these heroes let themselves, or the people they loved, down. That is what you are going to do, Jay. All of these people that are counting on you. All of these people that chant your name, make signs with your name on it, wear your shirts and put their hopes and dreams in you are going to watch you fall. All of them, let down by their hero. And then what? They all move on, and you are left with nothing. You give your heart and soul for them, but one slip up, and they will abandon you. I want to be the cause of that, Jay, and at Feel the Burn, I will be. I will be the guy that shows the fans they can’t put their hope in anyone, because if they do, they will be let down each and every time. I am going to expose you for what you really are. Right now, people have this perception of you that you are an untouchable force, a hero that will not be stopped until he has his place at the top of the AWR mountain. But, that’s not what you are Jay. No. What you are is just another hero who isn’t quite good enough to be what he needs to be when it really matters. Just like I exposed your perversions with Maggia, I will expose this secret at Feel the Burn. [/red]
Royal looks confident as he speaks, truly believing he is going to do what he says he will.
[red] Royal: Jay, I know you’re feeling confident. I know you’re riding high. And, why wouldn’t you be? Everyone that has been thrown your way has fallen. Robert Carr, RCH3, The War Machines, even the great Rusty Axel, they have all run into the buzz saw that is Jay Swift. You have beaten everyone in your path and barely broken a sweat. You’re undefeated, and I know that because David Saturn rants and raves about it every time you make an appearance. But, here’s the deal Jay. All those names I’ve mentioned that you have vanquished, they’re all good in their own right, they all have their own talent, but none of them are me. None of them are even close to being me. [/red]
Royal glares into the camera.
[red] Royal: I’m the top dog around here, Jay. I’m the man. I’m the best. Beating me is next to impossible. Ask Kris Destiny. He hates my guts, but even he, if he has any sense of decency in his black soul, can admit that pinning my shoulders to the mat for three seconds was one of the hardest things he has ever done. And, if it weren’t for your little buddy Maggia, he wouldn’t have managed to do it. But you, Jay, you don’t have the luxury of Maggia refereeing this match. If you want to beat me, it will have to be on your own merits. And you cannot and will not do that. You and I Jay, we’re very similar. We both got our big break in the NIWF. We are both three time World Champions. We have both separated ourselves from the pack and proven ourselves to be top guys in the AWR. But, there is one, tiny difference between us. And that is that I am just a little, tiny smidge better than you. And a little, tiny smidge is all I need to beat you. And I will beat you, Jay. Not just because I want to take out the AWR heroes one by one. Not just because I want to beat you. I will beat you because I have to beat you, Jay. I have to beat you to get back to where I belong, and that is sitting comfortably on the AWR throne. That is being World Champion. [/red]
Royal smiles at the thought of once again being World Champion, as this match is basically a number one contender’s match.
[red] Royal: And that’s what it all comes back to, the World Heavyweight Championship. The Championship that I made mean something. The Championship that owes its prestige to me. The Championship that is my baby. And every day that my baby is gone from me, it suffers. Every day that Kris Destiny holds the World Title, it loses prestige. And it doesn’t matter if Gemini beats Sho, he will be no better. Two murderers competing for my championship, that is what we’ve come to. That sickens me. The Championship needs me to bring it salvation, but in order to do that, I must first defeat you Jay. I must first put you in your place, put you down. And that is what I will do. You are a roadblock that stands between me and my Championship, Jay, but I will not let you stop me. I will do any twisted, dastardly, disgusting thing necessary to get you out of the way. I showed that at Crash TV. What happened at Crash TV, I know that hurt. I know you’re still feeling those effects, and you’ll still be feeling them at Feel the Burn, but what happened at Crash TV was nothing really compared to what the immediate future holds for you. Crash TV was merely a sample, a warning shot. The real deal comes at Feel the Burn, and it will be your downfall, your destruction. I know you’re not ready for what I am bringing your way at Feel the Burn, and that is why you will ultimately fall. [/red]
Royal again smiles, looking more and more confident as he speaks.
[red] Royal: You have been on a roll since coming to the AWR, Swift. You have looked impressive and, at times, unstoppable, and I applaud you for that. But, the fact is, you’ve built up your reputation by beating inferior being after inferior being. You know that I am your first real test here, and I am a test you will fail. You have skated by for far too long, and I will not let it go on any longer. The free ride ends at Feel the Burn, and it ends in the most brutal and painful way possible. I’m not going to let you pass me up, Jay. I’m not going to let you take my spot on the top. I’m not going to let you further damage the prestige of the World Title by putting it around your undeserving waist. I am putting an end to your undefeated streak, and I am putting an end to your rise to the top. You think you can hang with me? Think again. I’m the judge, jury and executioner around here, and you will soon find that out. Your fate is sealed, and even your buddy Maggia can’t save you now. I’m putting you down, Jay. You think that Feel the Burn is going to be the biggest triumph of your AWR career, but for you, all Feel the Burn is going to be is, LIGHTS OUT! See you there, Jay. [/red]
With that, Royal flicks the projector back on and once again goes back to watching his brutal assault on Swift. As he watches, he lets out a disturbing laugh as the scene fades to black.
