Obviously, things are on the down slope and with the brutal winter coming (and we all know winter is horrible for e-feds)things are bleak, It's been a nice trip down nostalgia lane the last couple of months, but I can't have fun when the place has been wittled down to about five people.
I hate to do this type of thing, but it must be said.
This place needs a complete makeover, from top to bottom. Honestly, those up top are not willing to put in the effort needed to get this off the ground.
To those wondering why new people don't join here, let me open your eyes on reality. People don't join AWR because they see people like Hell, people like Tracy, among others, posting tacky RP's that hardly break the 100 word mark, or are completely bad if they do. It's simple, with RP's like that, why would anyone take this place seriously? I'm sorry that I have to put the midcard guys on blast, but it's something that HAS to be said. You guys need to start taking this more seriously and not just half assing shit. People like Gemini, Fa Sho and myself bust our asses despite circumstances that we may not like (for example, I'm getting tired of facing Robert Carr again and again). The talent gap is far too wide. People don't want to join a fed where they can become a top guy far too easily. It's a joke to them when they see the type of midcarders that we have.
The roster pics were a joke with the reopening, and they STILL are. People look at that page, see only seven pics, and move on. RCH only posted them, and never updated the thing.
It's real simple, this place needs a complete overhaul. It's the only way that we're going to see real results. Maybe it'll take a hiatus over the winter, but as currently operated, AWR will be a start and stop fed again and again. I've ran feds before, as you guys know. If I ran AWR, here's what I would do, and I know this may ruffle a lot of feathers, but it HAS to be said.
1) Abolish the challenge system. Nobody uses it. Just go with a booked fed, and leave it at that.
2) Abolish the gender line. I don't care about "realism", it's an e-fed. The fact that women characters aren't allowed here is a joke, and I'm sure that's a turn off for a lot of people. I don't give a damn if I have to write the matches featuring a woman character (since I know the realism thing, for god knows what reason, is SUCH a big deal here). As long as there's equality, that's what matters. People should be allowed to portray any character they want, male or female. This is 2013 people, not 1993.
3) Cut the roleplayers that are inactive or who clearly aren't taking this seriously enough. People like Gemini, Sho and Royal (if he's still around) are the ones that deserve to say. I'm sorry Hell and Tracy, but if AWR is to improve and thrive, you guys have to roleplay better, cut your characters down (I know Hell has at least six, which is a joke), and focus on just one or two characters so you can have better roleplays. If you can't do that, leave. I don't care how "active" you guys are, you guys are part of the problem, and you guys have to either get better, or get out!
4) Put the fed on hiatus until 2014. This is not going to get better overnight, and the holidays are the worst part of the e-fedding year. It's going to take a lot of time and effort to get this place into good shape. Furthermore, the hiatus will give us time to find REAL roleplayers who want to have fun, but also, who take it seriously enough to not post 200 words of garbage.
Note: If this tactic is unsuccessful, than AWR is unfixable. It's worth a try, at the very least.
5) ENOUGH WITH THE SPAM MAIL! Yeah, the spam mail we get in our inboxes for results reminders? Not working. Old members are not even logging on anymore, so they're not coming back. Perfect segway to...
6) MOVE ON! Yep, those old guys? They're not coming back. Time to be a real fed and rely on getting NEW BLOOD rather than trying to rely on people who, quite frankly, don't give a fuck anymore. If they gave a fuck, they'd be active and roleplaying to the best of their ability right now.
You can only start and stop a fed so many times with the same tactics. As the phrase goes, insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
If I get banned over this, I don't care. But seriously, it's time for a wake up call and it's time to start over and completely rebuild this thing.

I'm still here. Had a bit of a family emergency the past week, but I'm still around. Not really a response to this post just letting it be known I'm here.

I don't care too much about what has been said about me but people like Hell deserve a lot better than that. In Hell's case he's actually been busy recently though I guess he wouldn't meet your colossal standards at his peak. I agree that the multiple characters are a little too much (though I did overtake Rusty) People like Hell have put a lot more effort into this place than you think. Slick would be booted out by your standards as well despite his experience because he didn't have to write essays back in the day (and I know he does not want to because not everyone takes it as seriously as you Jay)
In your own words this is the spiritual successor to NIWF. Well people like Hell were a big part of that. The last ever NIWF champion in Hell's case.
Basically what you want is THW where some members here wouldn't have seen the light of day. Whether its ability or maybe just the fact not everyone has the time to write essays every week. There wouldn't have been a NIWF back in 2004 (including me to an extent though I probably was the top guy that year) with what you're advocating. I guess Fa Sho would have been booted out too because his early rps were nothing special? If you want women characters (and from a card writing standpoint its easier to write with aspects of realism) you should be prepared to have members of all abilities as well. Not preach double standards.
Its an efed not a totalitarian state. Should members with learning difficulties (one instance here) be kicked out as well? I don't think that's right Efeds would never have existed back in the day under your strict ability/length criteria. Hell is right it was more fun back in NIWF (even moreso before Hell joined my first year in late 03/04 was the most fun) because you didn't feel pressured to write an essay every week. Its no wonder I've pretty much stopped rp'ing as Silvio because it feels like a chore to live up to my previous standards. I know there's some truth in the rp remarks and you're right I don't have the desire to be a top guy anymore. You probably think I was a miserable failure in THW and you're right I probably was after the initial promise. Once again all down to desire.
If you want it take it. A lot more time than people think goes into the results and commentary and obviously its not appreciated. I haven't been enjoying it should I keep doing it just because I feel bad about letting people down in the past? More fool me. We took shortcuts writing the matches (myself and Royal had been writing out real life matches which I edited) and even that hasn't stopped me feeling burned out. It still takes up too much time especially when so many people RP at the last moment (not that it was wrong but it didn't exactly help)
Oh and you forgot to mention you can post as late as you want but others can't. Reason I posted late incidentally is because I almost forgot to RP. Which if I was fully invested in things would virtually never have happened. If its a 1 rp limit however people are entitled to post whenever they want. I never rp'ed as seriously as Rusty as with Silvio so its not like a loss would have hurt me. So I had no reason to do what you accused me of via PM.
The only things I really enjoy somewhat is writing for Rusty (and especially Steal who's character has never been a chore to write for) and is that enough reason to stick around? No. So I'm not announcing my resignation but retirement as of now. Not "throwing my toys out" just stating the facts. Not even particularly angry to be honest despite how the tone of this post might come across. Considering not one person has stood up to defend me I'll have to do it for myself. Truth be told you have probably done me a favor. People like Hell and Tracy will always have a place somewhere and so they should.
Its not a particularly happy ending (at least for me) but when is that the case in efeds? THW didn't and this place won't whether its this week or in 5 years. Everything good comes to an end. I've had 10 good years and been successful as a rp'er for the most part.
Maybe I should spend more time on poker instead. At least there's potential monetary reward in it. Unless you want someone to write the commentary because I still feel I'm pretty damn good at that if nothing else. Then again that probably wouldn't end up lasting long either.
Especially GENUINELY sorry to Sho and Gemini for ruining the good feud you had going but life has bigger disappointments than a failed efed owner I guess. Maybe you can reignite it here or elsewhere. At the very least I don't think the shows have been bad though actually they have been pretty damn eventful with such a limited roster.
Not going to ban you at all. This isn't a Jackson Steele dictatorship. At least give me more respect than that.

I don't have much time, but I can't help but agree with quite a lot Jay has said.
I've been here over the past year and while it has been fun, I have missed competition like I have had recently in Anthony, Gemini, and Jay. It just isn't as much fun when we aren't able to pull in more competitors.
As far as you bringing me up when I started, yeah, go ahead. My point is that we need to find a line. There are people who had potential and were actually pretty good when I got here, but it seems like they lost their drive as well and have gotten sloppy. Guys like Tracey were very good as well as Jason. The commitment isn't there anymore and it sucks.
I became good with some advisement, but it seems like the opposite with some people.
Anyways, I can have more later, but I must be off now.

Lance hasn't been here but Royal, Gemini, Jay and yourself getting back to your best (know you didn't feel on top form at first but I'm sure you do now) has been enough to keep it interesting. I just didn't want every card looking like a PPV there has to be a balance. In some feds (including THW) most cards were PPV from top to bottom and ran in that order as well. The weakest match always started the shows. I booked my cards Raw/Smackdown style in level and the match order. People can't improve if they don't face top members after all. You know that from your early NIWF days losses to likes of B-Man and myself only helped in the end.

This isn't a Jackson Steele dictatorship. At least give me more respect than that. I'll respond to all this, the best way I can. I know what Hell can do at his best, I haven't seen it in years though. I should also point out that when I ran THW, I accepted worse RP'ers, but THW is different. Why? Because THW had a sustainable roster that more than made up for it. This fed doesn't have that luxury, sadly, and the only way to do it is to take care of the problem. People aren't going to join a fed if they see that it's too easy for them to thrive in, it's as simple as that. Want to know how I know this? Back in 2008, nobody gave UHWF the time of day. But, when Steele had to go LOA and I had to take over, I did my part and started to push myself with my roleplays, showing that I could be better than what I showed. The result? The roster took notice and also upped their game. The result of that? Prospective members saw UHWF as a competitive place to be and more people joined. Granted, he came back and and things got testy, but I'm not going to blast him since we've long buried the hatchet. I don't want "another THW", and I'm not going to get into that THW story either. What I want is a fed that's both fun, and competitive. Before the recent lull, it was fun. Competitive? Not so much, and even Fa Sho can tell you that. I'm not saying I want roleplayers that write 5000 word RP's and 4000 of those words are non-match related. There's a niche for promo-oriented feds out there, and I know this fed has the potential to thrive as one. I'm not looking to change this fed into what THW was, I respect the niche and the type of roleplay it leans toward. But, still, that's no reason to accept two paragraph roleplays. If most of the roster is full of that (and it is, sadly), nobody is going to join. It's not "taking this too seriously", it's fact! The problem isn't me "taking this too seriously". The problem is that you didn't take it seriously enough. You admitted it as such with the whole match writing thing. I'll give you credit for doing so at least. If all you enjoyed was the stuff you said you enjoyed, then how can you possibly have the drive to run a fed? I'll also give you credit for the results. They've been good. That's one thing I don't have a problem with whatsoever. It's a shame that the results for one reason or another haven't drawn in any new members. As for taking over, I can't guarantee that it'll work. Not even Skull himself could do it when he tried (guessing real life got in the way again or something). It is though, worth a shot with a hiatus, trying to boost the roster and relaunch better than before in 2014. It is, though, worth a shot. Nothing is impossible to fix, but this is the deepest hole I've seen a fed in and it's going to take a lot of work to pull it out of it and get it to a fed I know it can be. It's on you though, as far as what you want to do with the admin account. I'm not going to ask for it. That's all I've got to say on this. It's a shame that the only way to possibly fix this is to blow it up and start over, but sometimes, you have to take the most drastic of measures to have a good fed.

I know that I'm technically the newest person to have joined this fed but I feel that there is a few things to be said.
Personally for me, it's been an entire year since i wrote an roleplay until Jose finally convinced me to come back and be apart of AWR. To be honest, it's a decision I don't regret making because it's been a great escape from "reality zone" for me, and embarking in what had turned out to be one hell of a feud between Kris Destiny and myself just proved that.
Now as far as no one sticking up for you is concerned Silvio, and no this isn't me doing it I'm just speaking the truth, you've done a decent job here as far as writing the shows week in & week out. You say nobody appreciates it but I dont really see where anybody stated that the didn't appreciate it. I mean the commentary is funny as hell, and all the matches have been written pretty solid...great enough to the point where if I was a new guy looking into the fed for a place to rp, I probably would have picked this to be my home.
I dont really have too much else to say considering that everything else that could have possibly been said has been said but one thing I will say that I disagree with is that IF Jay Swift decides to take on the ownership role of the fed, I wouldn't agree to the hiatus until 2014. I think there should be something done where we could perform some light activity to help build members and have that lead to an all explosive 2014 take over. Of course there was one issue that took place here that caught my eye because even in my THW days, it kind of pissed me off.
The result of Jay Swift vs Rusty Axel(which Im quite sure would have saw Rusty as the winner) may not have necessarily came down to the usual "waiting to last day...particularly LAST MOMENTS" to rp mantra that we are all used to seeing but for goodness sakes, I hate the fact that people wait until the day of deadline to rp, especially the last hour (let's face it Jay...you've always been great at counter rping and to be honest I thought Silvio was trying to play your game against you...but his excuse for that last second rp actually ended up being worse than what i had accused).
Is new leadership in order? Yes, definitely needs to be led by someone who has passion to lead(hell for what it's worth, I'll even lead the damn fed). What to do about current champions? I say keep them. And keep the AWR World Championship feud as it's something that can be renewed. Whatever there is to be done , I'm sure the revamping can and will be started around the core that has keep the fed going for this long (Swift/Gemini/Royal/Fa Sho). As for the likes of Hell and Tracy. I'm sure they can rp greater if they chose to. But I say we do a little something to help new rpers gain the help they need to improve themselves.

Here's what I am going to do, since I realized I have access to post in the results board.
I'm going to give you guys a show, since it was RP'd for, at the very least. There will be some angles to push forward a new direction, and then we'll go from there.
I don't know if we'll continue to use these forums or not. If we can get admin access here, then great. Otherwise, we'd have to switch forums (which, actually, might do some good to start fresh)
Gemini, I'm taking everything you're saying into consideration. I'll see if I can come up with anything that addresses your concerns to some extent.
But yes, give me tonight, and I'll have the 10/4 results up and posted. I've already got the matches covered, I just need to work on some segments and stuff.

jay you may be right about my charecters not giving great rp proformances and i am not going to argue with you but all i tried to do was create different charecters to try to help draw new people. as far as my hell charecter goes i can write rps three times the length of anyones in here and not make them boaring but lively and good story but as much as i love to role play and trust me i do my decatition to my four year old and job come first thats why the sloopy rps sometimes but i still love rping as much as anyone and try to whenever i can. it was agreed in the begining by silvio that i would only be casual whenever i could and several times when silvio couldnt be here only tried to keep this fed going. not EVER did i put my charecter in line for a title shot even after beating lance when he was champ because running the fed and the possibility of winning the title would have been unfair to others. instead i took my charecter to the sidelines and competed in lesser matches to be fair or at least i thought it was being fair. anyway anyone can make whatever comments they choose to anyway good luck to everyone here and if i am not wanted here just let me know and i will stay away.

I'll tell you what, I thought about this. Despite things from the past and all that, I'm going to do something that I hope I won't regret. I'm going to give you a chance to prove me wrong. Thinking about it, I think it's only fair. It does come with TWO conditions though, but neither one is hard to accomplish. 1) You meet at least the 300 word MINIMUM limit (and 300 words takes about five minutes) 2) You don't do any more than TWO characters. Pick any two you want to RP with. Doesn't matter to me which one it is. As I said earlier, I don't want "essays" or "novels", but I want to see EFFORT. I know life gets in the way, and I know everyone is capable of doing at least the minimum required. To everyone else, sorry about any previous public shots I've been taking, hopefully nobody takes offense.

well jay thats great and ty but i will still be away for a while as for you and me in the past we always got along and i didnt know you didnt like me and too be honest you only got upset with me because of a loss you took in the fed i ran and only one loss and even tho it was too a person of lesser standards of you i went by rules both parties had to rp and your partner didnt.
as i told silvio before i have nothing against you and never have and as for my rping with the carr charecter as i said i went with old story lines as i knew the swift charecter and was not trying to jab at you as you might have thought and i knew i could do a great feud with you but i guess you must have thought i was serious and it was only meant for role play purposes. in case you might have forgotten in the past i use to do anywhere from eight to fifteen page role plays that a lot of people enjoyed. now being a single father as i have been since the birth of my son who is four and single for all four of those years in my mind i think i do well to do the amount of rps i do without taking time away from my son so that might explain why i dont do the same work i use too.
once again i have nothing against you and just try to keep in mind all the charecters might have gotten out of hand but at least i tried to help in some way. if your running this fed then good luck and i will be back once my work slows down but right now im half way throught my two week pay period and have 89 hours in and only got today off because its thanks giving. anyways be seeing you around.
