The scene opens in the familiar study of Anthony Royal. In the study, on a leather couch sits Anthony Royal. Royal is staring off into space and rubbing a wound on his forehead, a consequence from his war with Kris “Fa Sho” Destiny at Thunderstorm. He does this silently for a few moments before finally turning his focus to the camera and starting to speak.
[red] Royal: Are you all happy? I’m sure you are. You all got what you wanted. That menace Kris Destiny is still World Champion and I’m left to pick up the pieces. [/red]
Royal looks into the camera with disgust.
[red] Royal: What happened at Thunderstorm was a pathetic display of cowardice and bias by both Destiny and that scum Maggia. It is clear that no matter how well I performed on that night, I would not be leaving with the Championship. It has always been Maggia’s plan to keep that title around Destiny’s waist, and that is exactly what he did, and Destiny let it happen. Some hero. [/red]
Royal is clearly in denial, trying to come up with any excuse to cover for the fact the he was beaten by a better man at Thunderstorm. But, the way he is talking, it’s almost as if in his own warped mind, he actually does believe Maggia and Destiny conspired to screw him over.
[red] Royal: Hero. Hero. That word keeps repeating over and over in my mind. Kris Destiny said he was a hero. A hero of the people. And he said he would do what a hero does, and that is vanquish the perceived evil of the world, in this case, myself. And, in the end, by hook or by crook, that is exactly what he did. In the end, by his definition, he was a hero. [/red]
Royal glares into the camera, emotionless, as he speaks.
[red] Royal: You know, since day one, I have been the man in this company. I have been the centerpiece, the poster boy, the main attraction. I was the first ever AWR World Champion, and, in my opinion, if it weren’t for me, the AWR would be dead, buried and forgotten about by now. And yet, despite all of this, I was never referred to as a “hero.” The fans, they never cheered me. They never showed their support to me for keeping the company they love so much alive. Not once. Instead, they took my hard work, my blood, sweat and tears, and they threw it all right back in my face. Instead of showering me with the admiration I so richly deserved, they chose to put others above me. They elected monsters like Kris Destiny, and, more recently Gemini and that little worm Jay Swift as their chosen heroes. [/red]
Royal shakes his head in disgust.
[red] Royal: But this never bothered me. Their opinion was absolutely irrelevant to me, because I had what everyone so desperately wanted. I had the AWR World Championship, and that was all I ever needed. But now, I don’t. Now, it has been unjustly ripped away from me, and Thunderstorm made in painfully clear that the power hungry, egotistical, perverted little bastard Roberto Maggia is going to make it impossible for me to get it back. My goal in the AWR has always been to be the absolute best. But now that I don’t have the Championship, I realize that my goal has already been complete. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I am the best wrestler in the world, and just because Kris Destiny weaseled his way to a successful title defense at Thunderstorm does not make him better than me. I am the best, with or without the championship. The title is going to be kept away from me no matter what I do, so now I realize it’s time for me to get a new goal. It’s time for me to show the world that heroes aren’t real. [/red]
Royal shows his first sign of emotion as he gives the camera a devilish grin.
[red] Royal: You see, if I can’t have what I deserve, then I’m going to give all of the “heroes” of the AWR what they deserve. Their destruction. I am going to take all of the men you pathetic fans put on a pedestal, and I am going to bring them to their knees at my feet. I am going to make them wish for their demise, then I am going to deliver it. The AWR needs to be cleansed of these miscreant, insignificant, abnormalities that hide behind their false “hero” labels. Men like RCH3, Gemini and that son of a bitch Jay Swift, they are frauds who you see as heroes. But that is not what they are. They are dogs that need to be kicked and put in their place by their master, me. They are going to feel my wrath. All of them. You hear me, Swift? [/red]
Royal focuses heavily of Swift for some reason. Perhaps he has taken issue with what Swift said on Twitter following his defeat at the hands of Destiny.
[red] Royal: All of the parasites that you call heroes are going to crumble before me, and it all starts this week with the worst “hero” of them all, Slick Doctor. [/red]
A smirk crosses Royal’s face at the mention of Slick.
[red] Royal: It’s been awhile, hasn’t it, Slick? Almost a year ago exactly, I beat you in the finals of the Deadly Game tournament to begin my historic reign as the first World Champion in this company’s history. That night, was one of the greatest nights of my life. But, I do have one major regret about that night, and that is the fact that I allowed you to walk out. You see, I should have destroyed you on that night, but all I cared about that night was capturing the World Championship. But, now that the championship is being unjustly kept from me, the blinders have been removed, and I can see the terrible mistake I made on that night. For the past year, you haven taken up space on this roster and done nothing with the spot that you have. A year ago, we battled for the World Title, and since that time, I’ve been at the top of the mountain, while you’ve wallowed a way in the middle of the pack, trading wins with the likes of Robert Carr. You’re a pathetic excuse for a man Slick, and I made a mistake a year ago when I didn’t end you like I should have. But come Crash TV, that mistake will be rectified [/red]
Royal has a sinister look on his face now as he talks about Slick.
[red] Royal: Slick, you have been a piss poor representative of this company since day one. You are a drunken slob, and that’s all you’ll ever be, and yet, the fans of this AWR love you. They cheer you. They admire you. You are their hero. And why? Because they can relate to you. They can relate to being a drunken slob. They can relate to knowing that their best days are behind them. You are an everyman Slick, and they can relate to that. They can’t relate to me because that can’t even begin to fathom what it is like to be me. That is why when we face off at Crash TV, they will support you. They will cheer for you as if their pathetic lives depended on it. And they will groan with disappointment when you fall to me. I’m sure you are going to make some jokes about me and what I have to say, but Slick, this is nothing to joke about. This is your demise, and there is nothing you can do about it. I am going to put you out of misery like I should have done a year ago. Going into this match, you will be Slick Doctor, a legend of the business, but when it’s all send and done, you will be nothing more than the first casualty of my new mission. [/red]
Royal pauses to give the camera an intense glare before continuing to speak.
[red] Royal: Heroes aren’t real. You think they are, but they aren’t. Hero is just a label inferior beings give to those who they admire to make them feel better about their own terrible lives. They live vicariously through them, because they can’t do anything worthwhile on their own. But, this isn’t a generic Hollywood production. This is real life, and in real life, the heroes don’t have to win. In real life, it doesn’t matter what side you fall on, hero or villain. All that matters is who’s better. And that will always be me. Every man that the fans have foolishly labeled a “hero” has now found themselves on my hit list. And that is not a place you want to be, because I always get my man. You all know who you are, and you all will fall. Slick, get ready. You’re first. [/red]
With that, Royal lets out a twisted laugh as the scene fades to black.
